10 Ways to Make Rebranding Yourself Feel Easier

1. Give yourself time to adjust

There is going to be an adjustment with any change you make. If you want to start waking up earlier, there’s going to be an adjustment with going to bed earlier. If you want to start packing your lunches for work instead of buying them, there’s going to be an adjustment with remembering to make your meal. Whatever it is you’re doing, it’s important to give yourself time to adjust. Be kind to yourself, and don’t expect to be an expert overnight.

2. You will see the light in the tunnel eventually

When we’re in the thick of it, it can be difficult to feel like things will get easier. Time heals all - eventually you will feel more comfortable with this change and things will feel more normal.

3. It’s normal to have growing pains

Growing pains are totally normal when we step out of our comfort zone, where things feel overwhelming, draining, isolating, and downright foreign. These uncomfortable feelings don’t mean you’re not worth advancement or a better life, they simply mean you’re doing something new.

4. Take care of yourself

Even during times of stress, don’t forget to take care of yourself. Eat well, exercise, get some fresh air, sleep, and drink water.

5. Watch for success coming your way

It can be so easy to get caught up in the end result that we forget to watch for signs of success along the way. Celebrate the wins, whether they’re big or small. Even the smallest of wins will add up and is a sign to keep going.

6. Beware of those who don’t support you

You may even find that some people are disrespectful. Do not take this to heart and remind yourself why you’re moving forward. It says more about the person who’s being rude than it does about you.

7. Network with others

Networking with people who are where you want to be, or are on a similar journey is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships and learn skills.

8. Create a vision board

Visions boards are a visual representation of where you want to be, and can either be done digitally with images from Pinterest, or physically with images from magazines and books. Being able to see what it is you want to accomplish can help you stay focused on the journey, even when things get tough.

9. Journal about your feelings

Sometimes writing down your thoughts can help you to understand what’s going on in your head and sort through your feelings. I think journaling is a great tool for everyone, but especially for those who are embarking on a change.

10. Write a letter to yourself

We have the unique ability to communicate with our future selves through letters, reminders, or even little notes. Write down how proud of yourself you are, how much you believe in yourself, and how happy you are that you’re making this change. When things get tough, read the letter to remind yourself just how proud your past self is with how far you’ve come. Nothing is ever going to be perfect, but some progress is better than no progress.

BONUS: 11. Utilize the support system around you

Rely on your friends, family, neighbours, and community when things get tough. There are people around you who want the best for you, you just need to identify them.
