5 Spring Signs To Boost Your End-of-Winter Spirits
As I’m writing this post, we have officially entered March, and daylight savings is one week away, which means we’re very close to having the sunset after 7 pm. Winter can be very tough on us for countless reasons. The cold weather and slippery sidewalks can keep us inside, and the darker evenings can feel isolating. This can harm our mental health and make the winter months feel never-ending. Meanwhile, the warmer months seem to go by in a blink of an eye.
As difficult as it may feel to believe, spring is on its way. Before we know it, our flowers will bloom, our windows will be open, and we can spend our free time outdoors. We’re officially in the home stretch, so we need to keep our eyes on the prize. The only problem is that this is something totally out of our control.

During this time, as we patiently watch the Weather Network, I wanted to share some of my favourite signs of spring. These are some of the little indicators I watch for to remind me that the seasons are beginning to change (even if it doesn’t feel so) and winter is almost over. Here are 5 signs of spring that may boost your end-of-winter spirits, too.
5 Spring Signs To Boost Your End-of-Winter Spirits
1. The evenings are a little brighter
Whether you're driving home from work or eating your dinner, there's nothing better than looking out and noticing it's still bright out. We are basically solar-powered, and the sun has been credited for increasing our mood and improving our mental health. Not to mention that having it shine into the evenings is a reminder that spring is on its way.
2. The snow is starting to melt
The snowbanks are getting smaller, the roads are becoming barer and the grass is starting to poke through. The snow doesn't typically melt in one day, so watch as it disappears. Before we know it, it will be gone for another season.
3. You’re able to spend more time getting fresh air
Whether you have the windows open or are going for walks on your lunch, start to fill your lungs with fresh air. This is a great thing to do for both your mental health as well as your physical health.
4. The birds are chirping
Hearing the birds chirping is one of the best signs of spring. It’s a great reminder that winter is ending and warmer temperatures are coming.
5. You’re beginning your spring cleaning
You’ve begun tidying up your space, deep cleaning your home, and organizing your things. Start tackling any task that’s accumulated during the colder months in preparation for the warmth.
