With the magic of the fall months, I believe that engaging in fall activities can be incredibly healthy for the soul and enjoyable for the spirit. Here are just a few that you may wish to consider.
5 Fabulous Fall Activities You Need to Try This Season
1. Awaken Your Senses
Fall can be magical for your senses: the vibrant colours, the rustling leaves, the crisp air in the morning, and the warm sunshine on your face in the afternoon. While summer can be too hot for many people with health conditions, and winter is often too cold and isolating, fall offers a few months of sweet relief, where we can savour the senses and soak in all of the beauty this vast, glorious world has to offer.
2. Savour Autumn Foods
There’s something rather comforting about fall foods. Perhaps it’s a crisp apple straight from the trees, squash, or pumpkin soup. This time of year always brings back memories of the wonderful baking my mom used to love—pumpkin pies, butter tarts, date squares—all those cozy treats that define fall.
3. Visit a Fall Fair
The fall fair has been a long-standing tradition in our family. My mother attended as a little girl, I went as a little girl, and I brought my daughters when they were little too. Every year, as we go, I am flooded with memories from every stage of my life. As I age and grow, the fair remains a constant. It’s such a wonderful way to spend time with loved ones and explore what this experience has to offer. I highly recommend establishing this tradition with your family if you don’t already have it!
4. Focus on Clearing and Tidying
As the trees shed their leaves, and the glorious colours float around us, it is also a wonderful time to look for clearing opportunities in our own lives. Perhaps it’s time to pack away clothes and household items we no longer need and donate them to charity. Maybe there’s a habit you’ve been trying to break, and fall is a good opportunity to eliminate or cut back on it. Either way, it’s a beautiful reminder that change can be a wonderful experience, and to find areas in your life that you may need to switch up.
5. Take Time to Relax and Rejuvenate
Even though fall can be a busy time with children going back to school and summer vacation coming to an end, it is important to carve out some time to rest and restore. Remember, even the trees slow down and rest, so we can too. Spend an evening at home prioritizing self-care, slow your morning routine down a little if you find you’re taking on more than you can handle, or simply spend some time going for a walk on the weekends. Make time to relax and rejuvenate during this season of change.
